I Got This!

Read that title in your best George Lopez voice. Haha.

I haven't been here for a while but I have been taking some online classes and webinars to do this blogging thing better.

I am going to start by coming clean... literally. A while back we had a little water in the basement. In my crafting area. And I haven't put it back together yet. So here it is....my messy mess crafting area:
So I am going to spend a few day down there cleaning and then plan to do a few projects for the blog.

Happy end of summer, y'all!

Easy En Francais Butterflies

Hello! I admit it, I love butterflies. As a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I receive a wonderful magazine every other month. It is full of business ideas as well as creative ideas. When I saw a masking technique with a butterfly, I knew I had to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) it! Here is my take on masking...

So, how do I mask, you ask? Well, the easiest way is to use a Post-It sticky note. I used the largest full butterfly on the Beautiful Butterflies Bigs die. Ran it thru my Big Shot with the Post-It. Then I stuck it to my Whisper White cardstock and sponged Marina Mist ink on the inside of the butterfly. Then, keeping the Post-It on and covering all of the White cardstock with Post-Its, use the En Francais background stamp with Chocolate Chip ink to create the wording in the butterfly. It might take a few tries to get it the way you want, but it is definitely worth it! Top it off with the varying sizes of pearls. Then just tie a piece of Marina Mist ribbon and a couple of matching punched butterflies. Voila! Your cute, simple card is complete. You could add a greeting at the bottom or just leave it for the inside.

Feel Goods with a Honeycomb Folder

Hello dear friends.

I type with a heavy heart today in the wake of all of this week's tragedy.... Boston Marathon bombing, West TX plant explosion and flooding in Chicago. All of the aftermath is sure to find some more disturbing facts and tragedy; however, we also find the good in people. The medical people who ran to help, the fire fighters running in to save people and pets, common everyday people just caring for each other. It somewhat heals the heart. I know we all want to despise those young men who planted the bombs, but remember that they are someone's sons. Something went wrong with them, but someone loves them.

So, I absolutely love the Honeycomb embossing folder and the Feel Goods stamp set. The designer paper used on this card was from Sale-A-Bration but you could switch it and the colors for any designer paper. It is a Whisper White base card with a layer of Whisper White that I put thru the Big Shot with that Honeycomb folder. I used that same folder with a piece of designer paper and then cut out the little hexagons. I am in love with Razzleberry, so I used that to emphasize my greeting and for the small piece of ribbon. It is actually the dotted ribbon, but I folded it backwards so it was plain. The sentiment can be used for any girl or woman for a specific event or just because. "She believed she could, so she did." Love it!

I wish you all very happy weekend, enjoy your loved ones and relish in the day.

Scrapbook For the Record

Hey all. If you haven't seen the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog, you are missing out!! On page 9, there is a super easy, super cute Simply Scrappin' kit. It is only $9.95 and contains a ton of embellishments! The name is "For the Record" and it is prepared for you to quickly create a 2 page layout, 12"x12". You could easily trim it and do your own thing, but why? Lol!

I thought it was PERFECT for a layout for my kids' 1st grade teacher, who also happened to be my husband's 1st grade teacher! As you can see, her name is Mrs. Glasbrenner. My kids loved her so much and still do, although she has since retired and I've heard that she is enjoying that even more than teaching. I pretty much followed the layout included with the kit and completed it in less than 15 minutes. Awesome!

What do you think?

As you can see, I totally believe in using my own handwriting on my pages. It might be a little sloppy, but it gets the story in and it is from my heart. Contact me asap if you need a copy of the Spring Catalog or visit my website.

Wrapping Up Sale-A-Bration

Hello Friends!

Did you realize that Sale-A-Bration 2013 is ending this Friday? Yes ma'am. Only 3 more days to earn some beautiful free merchandise. Order online or call me today!!!

This is a card that we made at a recent stamp-a-stack I held. It uses the FREE Sycamore Street designer series paper along with the FREE Vintage Verses stamp set. I earned both of them for free in the Sale-A-Bration catalog! How wonderful is that, eh? I also used Whisper White as my base and for the greeting. A piece of Tangerine Tango punched with the trusty old Scallop Edge punch. The greeting was stamped in Island Indigo ink, which matches the designer paper. I love that! A piece of white Organza ribbon and a small piece of the desinger paper punched out and put in a Build A Brad blings out this card.

I know I saw a similar card online, but can't remember where. So if this is your card - Thank you! I thought it was beautiful and shared it with my friends.

Spring is technically here tomorrow! Let's pray for spring to come to us in a lovely fashion.

I Got Free Stuff

Hello my friends!

Yes, it is true. I got a package of free stuff. Wanna know how? On facebook, my upline has a group for a bunch of us demonstrators. Each week she draws a name from all of the people who upload a picture of something they created. I won!! Here's a picture of what was in my package...

As my friend Vicky knows, I love to buy these cool scrappy frames at Hobby Lobby or Michael's. I've created a few of them and wanted to do just that with some of this free stuff! I normally don't do the vintage, flowery flair on my projects, but this embellishment pack called my name. Here's what I did...

The ribbon and flowers aren't red in real life, they are an old-looking pink. I just love it, turned out perfect for the two loves of my life. If you are my facebook friend, share something that you are working on. I'd love to see it!

Trying to stay on task

I've been beating myself up for not being able to get a card made to blog about. But I just realized the other day that maybe we are all in the same boat. I absolutely LOVE crafting, making cards and scrapbook pages and 3D items. But I have a somewhat busy life as well. I'm overweight, so I have been trying to exercise every day. I have 2 kids who still need their mom once in a while. They are both in sports and other afterschool activites, so I am chasing after them in the evenings. I am my daughter's Girl Scout troop leader. You know that we have the new puppy, he takes a lot of attention. :) Sound a lot like your life? Probably.

So I've decided to make this a blog of my life instead of just Stampin' Up! crafts. I hope to still inspire you to get creating. Whether that is making a card to send to a loved one or a DIY project or how I got thru a parenting situation or a remodel of my home, I will share lots with you!

My daughter and I, like a lot of you, have been affected by cancer. She had two wonderful teachers lose their battle. In our small community, this took a huge toll on our young children. It broke my heart to tell her about those favorite teachers when each passed. I had thought it would take away her innocence and make her angry. She was angry and of course she wasn't innocent of the deadly disease any more. But what I wasn't ready for was the passion that my daughter and her friends have for others. In our Girl Scout troop, the girls (who are 6th graders) always want to help others. They have pen pals in an African orphanage. They donate food to the local pantry. They bought gloves for a boy in their class who needed new ones. Their hearts are SO BIG!

Anyhow, Haley and I became involved in a Relay for Life last year and are going to do it again this year. We also have other fabulous people on our team and I think some of the Girl Scouts will be joining us as well. We just had a fantastic fundraiser selling Valentine's Day cookies. So I thought as a Thank You to all of the customers, I'd give them one of these notes. I stamped a "Thank You" sentiment and wrote in "From the Wauzeka Walkers RFL team". We really appreciate the people who bought from us and hope to find a cure for this horrible disease.

Feel Goods

Good evening! Better late than never, right? I really wanted to get this card done today. My husband's schedule has changed. How does that relate to me getting my card done? Well, let me take a moment or two of your time...

We own an excavating/trucking company. We were blessed that his excavating season just got done. Meaning he just finished his last job before the weather dictated that he needs to wait a few months for the spring thaw. For a few days, he kept himself busy cleaning his shop, running errands, doing "guy stuff". Today, he was in the house. All morning. Ugh. He did take the kids to school. Then came home. I didn't get my workout in, I didn't get to my craft studio.

OK, enough of my complaining. I absolutely adore this saying!! "She believed she could... so she did" How empowering is that?! It is in the Feel Goods stamp set in the Occasions Catalog. The set has 5 awesome quotes that you can use inside or outside your card. Very versatile! This card was created on Very Vanilla carstock, with a piece of designer paper from the More Amore Specialty pack. From that piece, I got the coordinating colors of Pool Party and Primrose Petals to make my butterflies totally adorable (totes adorbs, as the cool kids say) with the Elegant Butterfly and Bitty Butterfly punches. The ribbon is a thick 1-1/4" two-tone Basic Black/Basic Gray. It could dress up a card with its shimmery elegance. Seriously, this card took about 15 minutes from start to finish! Super easy. I did run the butterflies thru the Big Shot with some embossing folders, but it is kind of hard to see. The Primrose is the Core'dinations, so I sanded the top layer off. Cute and empowering. I love it!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you will tomorrow, too. Now maybe I can start supper and get that workout in.

Stamps, Paper and Punches, Oh MY!

Good morning friends! I have to tell you that I absolutely LOVE the new Occasions Catalog from Stampin' Up! It went live a few days ago and I just got my box of goodies. As you can tell from the cover, SU is celebrating being in business for 25 years. It is awesome to be a part of such a wonderful company!
Congrats to Shelli and all of Stampin' up!

And here's a shot of my goodies.

I plan on working down in the studio later today, so tomorrow I will have a great new card for you. You can find all of our catalogs online at my website or give me a shout if you'd like a copy of it in your hands.

A Cherry on Top Card

Hello friends!

First off, I apologize for not being on much. The kids went back to school and I thought I'd get a ton done and blog every day. Well, not so much obviously. We got a new puppy about 3 weeks ago. Between taking him outside, cleaning up after him and taking non-chewable things away from him... I haven't gotten anything done!

But I did get this card done to share with you. It uses the hostess set A Cherry on Top. One of the great things about being a demonstrator is that we have a gallery of cards, scrapbook pages, 3-D items, etc. at our fingertips that are created by SU demonstrators with SU products. I found a card similar to this in that gallery. It had the same cover made out of a window sheet and embossed with Irridescent Ice powder. I just love it. I hope you can see it well enough in the photo, 'cause its really cute. After I had my embossed image, I cut it out with my snips and placed it on the card with mini glue dots.

Another fun thing with this card is the Chevron embossing folder used on the Perfect Plum layer. The Big Shot is definintely worth the investment. It is on the costly side, but there are so many cool things to do with it. Embossing folders being a very easy one. The folders are pretty cheap and last almost forever (I've never had one break yet!) and they add such motion and design to any card. For some bling, I added the Dazzling Details to each cupcake, the dots on the plate and the bottom of the plate. I do love me some glitter!!!  The ribbon is actually a retired Purely Pomegranite piece that I wanted to use up, it could easily be replaced with any current pink ribbon.

I hope you are all getting some crafting done this year. Hopefully, my puppy will cooperate and I'll be able to get another card done tomorrow.

Wisteria Wonder Made for You

Happy New Year! I am looking forward to all that 2013 has to offer. I have a lot of goals that I would like to accomplish this year, how about you?

My first card of the year is made with Wisteria Wonder and Whisper White cardstock, Wisteria Wonder ink and a little bling. I ran my White layer through the Big Shot with my Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder and then sponged Wisteria Wonder ink over the raised areas. The sentiment is from the Made for You stamp set. To get the shapes that the sentiment is on, I ran the white layer thru the Big Shot with the smallest of the Labels Collection framelit and then the Wisteria layer is with the next size Label framelit.

See that bow and ribbon? It is made of cardstock! Pretty cool, huh? I just took a piece 1" wide and probably around 6" long and ran it over my bone folder. Kinda like when you make ribbon bows on packages with your scissors. I ran it over and over the bone folder, flipping it over a couple of times to break down the fibers. (You can also run it through your crimper a bunch of times too, that's what I did for the flowers.) After a bit, you will see on the edges that the cardstock is splitting. Very carefully, pull the two layers apart. The inside looks kind of suade-ish and if you sponge on a bit of ink, it gives it a little depth.

I hope you like this card and if you are lucky, you might receive one of these beauties from me on your special day. ;)
